Ok, I’m actually planning on switching my netbook over to Linux, I just don’t want to do it until I know if I can reinstall XP should the need arise.

That said: I have a MSi Wind U100. It boxed with XP, but I was not given an XP CD. It is a netbook, so it does not have a CD/DVD Drive. I do not own, and cannot currently afford an external one. I do have USB sticks, a 1G, 2G and 4G.

Is there any way that I would be able to reinstall Windows XP if I needed to? I’ve searched the net a bit, but all answers so far seem to involve an external CD drive or a Windows Restore Disk to copy to USB on another computer. I don’t have another computer, a CD/DVD or a Disk, so I’m a bit stuck if that’s the only way.
I definitely know I like linux, I used it for years on my desktop (I no longer have the desktop due to moving.)

No, I just moved and bought a $300 netbook, I do not have the resources to buy an external hard drive no matter how cheap. I already stated that in my question so it is not an appropriate answer, thank you. I’m a stay-at home mother with 2 special needs children, $30 dollars buys food and groceries. Period. I wouldn’t have even bought a net book if we didn’t need one for my daughter’s schooling.

Should i buy a asus eee pc 901/1000 or a MSI wind , each of them have a 6 cell batteries, an atom processor, 1gb of ram, and and wirless a/b/g/n , bt etc…..the only differences are the screen sizes(asus 901-8.9 inch),(asus 1000 -10 inch), and (Msi wind – 10 inch)
and the hdd/sdd space. Msi only offers HDD while ASUS offers SSD .
I like the Msi wind, but i dont like the fact that it does not have an SSD.Which of the 3 is best? Which would you buy and why?

Yes I know it’s old but im on a budget and it has all i need. The pins on jbat 1 are already on pins 1 and 2. the psu is 550w. I got it brand new. the guy who sold it to me tested it right in front of me.

I have read up on so many different brands and secs that ive just finally decided to come to answers.

i am looking for a netbook or small laptop no more then 13″ and no smaller then 10″ .
i will be using it to surf web pages, email and watch movies .
so i am hoping for something with great speaker quality, backlit display, long lasting battery (6cell or more) .

hoping to have bluetooth, and it would be a treat to have an hdmi port.
but can live without it.

overall, I really just would like to know what the best company’s are and what are some pros and cons of each make.

also well I’m tying, I have heard a lot of good and bad about MSI computers and would like to know if they are in fact worthless .

I do realize that netbooks do not have a cd/dvd drive, and i am fine with that , as for the fact that i will have all my movies on an external hard drive. for the movies part i just want good sound quality. thanks ! : )

I have a Gateway LT2001u netbook and I have been looking everywhere for a case like this.
