DON’T BUY IT AT AMAZON. Amazon not only charge me $8 shipping cost for returning, but also CHARGE ME $65.50 RESTOCKING FEE(15% from original price) despite the fact that the computer is totally in the original condition. $65 IS A LOT OF MONEY. I didn’t know it otherwise I would never bought it at Amazon. As far as I know, other online computer sellers would not charge you such a high restocking fee.
I bought a laptop at a local Staples, they accepted the computer and refunded me full money for a computer of the same price.
I would never buy any electronic at Amazon again.

I bought the MSI wind for my 13 year old daughter for Xmas this year. It was great, she loved it and I was amazed at the speed and quality of everything for the price. 1 day later I am sending it back because it completely crashed. No OS found, No hard disk drive found. The only way you can re-load the OS is my purchasing an external ROM device because these net books don’t come with any internal media reading capabilities. (Also why they are much cheaper.) I am currently awaiting an email response from Amazon telling me when to expect my new machine. If it happens again I will be requesting my money back to put towards a different machine. Overall very disappointing.

Wi-fi refused to work at first, search for new Wi-fi driver. It worked in 20 minutes the disappeared for no reason. I thought that the next step woulbe be e-mailing MSI to send the unit in for service.
DISAPPOINTED !
However the next day when I turned the unit On and the Wi-Fi is working again. For two weeks.
One day I took it in a restaurant for lunch. I switch off the wi-fi, then got home and switch it back on, IT DiD NOT SEE my router anymore. No matter what I tried. Stupid MSI designers !
Re-installed the driver a few times and Now it’s working fine again.
Another trouble is the webcam turned off by itself. Took me 15 minutes to find the FN button + F6 to turn it back on.
MSI made it complicated for nothing.
BUT in overall, the unit is OK.
I like the AUDIO driver on the ACER Netbook better. The ACER does show Stereo Mixer alongside with Mic-In. And when I used the ROXIO AUDIO Capture, the ACER LET me click on the AUTO (Level) button to make pefect recording. The MSI only showed a mic-in even though I recorded from internet, And the Auto button is Grey-out and cannot be used. So making a good audio recording from the MSI took many steps working around. ACER is better ! And remember, I downloaded the newest Realtek Audio driver and installed that same driver in both machine, and they showed different things in audio and behaved differently. And That is STUPID on the MSI side !
But the 10″ screen of the MSI is better to work with, and I found myself spending 3 hours on the net with the MSI without any problem.
The 8.9″ screen of the Acer is a little small. It’s not a good decision for them to put that small screen on that netbook to keep cost down for competition reason. And if you want to buy the Acer: It Got the BIOS problems (Won’t Turn On)and I DID send the unit to ACER service in TEXAS and they replaced the System boad. I sent the unit thru US Post Office (small Netbook cost me less than $ 10.00). Took me more than 2 weeks to receive the netbook back. HP service took only 3-days for them to pick-up and delivery (Without-Cost from me – Monday morning FedEX pickup at 9AM, next Wednesday FedEX knocked my door at 9:30AM to delivered my Compaq Laptop (already fixed in Tennessee Service facility, and I live in Orange County California. Amazing !
Overall, I like the MSI, the Screen Hings(?) is alittle fragile. But the performance is good.
I could use the Pinnacle Mini HD Turner to watch TV over the air in restaurant. But the Atom CPU is too weak for a recording. A dual-core of a bigger laptop is more suitable.
The 6-cell battery is good for about 4 hours or a little more – not 6 hours as anybody would like to claim !

I purchased this netbook for my wife and we are both pleased with it. The white color was a big plus hor her as she detests black computer items. The Wind has worked well and we are quite happy with the purchase. I would recommend it to others.

I wanted a netbook so I did some research and found that this is one of the best in it class for the price. I’m so happy I bought it! I haven’t touched my pc since I got it! They say that these aren’t going to replace your main computer, but so far mine has, and I’ve still got a ton of memory after downloading some of the same programs I have on my pc. I bought it in white and I love it! It’s a beautiful pearl white and it resists fingerprints, which I love since I have a curious 3 year old. Shipping was fast too…I ordered on a wednesday and got it on saturday.
