whenever i try to install an application or program i get the error message that windows installer could not be accessed, could be missing files or not installed correctly. i went to the microsoft site for support and i’ve tried much of what they suggested but to no avail. i tried re-registering the installer through the command prompt but when i type ren msi.dll msi.old, it says the system cannot find the file. so, anyone know what i should do? all help is appreciated. i’d like to fix it without reinstalling the OS coz i just recently did that and i’ve already installed a bunch of software. thanks in advance.

When I double clicked on the “Maple Story” icon on my desktop, it opens a mini window saying “The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable”

Then blah blah blah blah.

BIOS password help! BIOS from hell!?

I’ve recently acquired a advent 4211, which is basically an MSI wind with new stickers.
The netbook however has a BIOS password, I don’t know if it’s default or user-set, but it’s just there.
The netbook has a corrupted windows OS running (well, figuratively) so I can’t access anything other than a “reinstall a component of windows” screen or an “insert Password” screen.
Normaly I would ignore it and re-install a fresh ver of windows, but the boot order gives the HDD priority, so I can’t do that without changing the boot order and I can’t do that because of this BIOS password! I have tried removing the CMOS battery, (after taking all power away) and the password is still there.
Help me people! Desperate for guidance!
Tl:dr = how to remove a bios password, already tried taking out CMOS battery.
Tried hitting/holding the power button, am now leaving the CMOS battery out overnight 
other suggestions appretiated
Overnight removal didn’t work,
shorting the terminals with screwdriver didn’t work,
godamn it! >.<

Thanks Jon for the info/answer. Anyway, I’m going to use it for basic computer usage, gaming and some jobs that require the services of a good graphic card. I plan to use it both at home and on the go.
I was asking which would be the best deal for its price and specs (as a whole laptop). I narrowed it via the dedicated graphics factor, and limited myself to notebooks with class 2 graphic cards (according to notebookreview.com) that has the cheapest prices, while avoiding HP because of my bad history with the quality of their products. I can live with some of the downsides, ie 250gb hard drive only or no bluetooth.
I have already done spec-by-spec comparison so no need to go there. However, when I compared them spec-by-spec, each of them have different upsides and downsides against each other. In short, all of them seem equal to me and that’s why I’m having trouble deciding.

when ever im on my computer this file pops up saying please wait while windows configures windvd…gathering required information cancel
..when u press cancel it gors and comes back saying windows are installing
.. then it does what ever its doing and comes back and says the feature you are trying to use is on a network source that is unavailable ok

then if u click cancel it goes to error 1706 no valid source could be found for product windve. the windows installer cannot continue ok

Alright,
So I installed oblivion and loads of mods, such as qarl’s texture pack 3 with the patch, shivering isles retexture, clocks of cyrodil, and tried the FCOM convergence, i had a lot more mods, but thats not important right now.
My CPU specs,
AMD Dual-Core 5200+ processor clocked @ 2.85ghz
4gb ddr2-800 RAM
MSI Geforce 9800 GT OC’ed @ 660/1700/900

tHIS IS GETTING REALLY FREAKING ANNOYING, AND I’VE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT FOR LIKE 12 HOURS.

Uninstalled/Re-installed numerous times
Disabled all mods
Uninstalled all mods/then spent forever reinstalling.
Patched both official and unofficial.
Got the program called boss which loads all the mods in the right order.

so, everytime i switch my MSI laptop i get that message (namely error loading C:\Users\Owner\Appdata\Local\Temp\ghhsgrhj.dll). then windows seems to work normally. however that msg kinda bugs me cos i dunno wat it is lol.
i’m running vista btw
any ideas???
