i want to sell a used a 3 year old toshiba laptop, 13′ screen. it does have its problems, but is mostly in okay shape, but the screen no longer works. i have put about $300 in repairs into it, orginal price $799. i also have an almost new acer lcd monitor that i would like to sell for close to full price, $170.
where can i get estimates on these, and what would be the best way to sell them?
pawn shops, ebay, facebook advertising, paper classifieds?
2nd part: i am looking for a new laptop/notebook under $250. i am a student, and i want something smaller. i have looked at
Asus Eee
HP Mini
MSI Wind
Gateway Notebook
Acer AspireOne
Dell Inspiron
Mirus Netbook
Dell Mini10
Cendyne Via
IBM Thinkpad
is there anything you would recommend to me or warn me to stay away from?

sell locally – your local papers, less messing around and no posting, plus the buyers sees, and the laptop is sold as is, no come backs
if you only want something for email – word processing or browsing go for one of the small cheap laptops, but if you want to do anything else go for something with a bit more power (dual core processor), i’d recommend Toshiba, Acer or IBM, although you might have to get a 2nd user laptop to get this spec for the money you mention

With the prices of computers these days, it would be very difficult to manage to sell your used one. I also wouldn’t recommend selling the laptop with your original hard drive in it. No one that knows how to use the internet would buy your used Acer (poor brand) monitor for full price.
As for new notebooks…under $250? You’re not going to be getting a very good notebook at that kind of price. Invest a couple hundred more and you can find some decent notebooks. All those laptops you’ve listed are netbooks. Meaning they are good for browsing the internet and word processing, not much else. They are also incredibly small, maybe too small for regular use.
ASUS is a great brand for notebooks and I would highly suggest any of their products. Buy from newegg.com to get the best warranties.

E Bay or classified adds.
I use Toshiba Satellite lap tops and am not a fan of the Mini lap tops.
The Mini lap tops are good for Internet and basic work only.
Look at the new Toshiba Mini: http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/home.to

Sorry , but a 3 year old Toshiba is worth about 5 bux with a broken screen. Toshiba sold junk in the first place…but you already know that….Honestly, throw it in the trash-can.
Acer Monitors are selling for dirt-cheap, due to the Obama-fed world-wide recession that we are in. DELTATION is the key word for this turd in the Oval Office.
I bought a 22 Inch Acer LCD for about $150. A year ago and prices have gone down even more!
Tiger and NewEgg sell a ton of them:

http://www.http://www.newegg.com/
A brand new 22 inch Acer LCD is currently selling for about $150. or less…unless yours it HUGE…figure on 40 bux tops.
Again, sorry.
But that is the market.
